It was a beautiful day....some of the nicest weather in Ottawa City Chase history in fact and ...You Chased your hearts out!

Congratulations to Anthony and Eric Woods who were declared The 2010 Ottawa Mitsubishi City Chase Powered by BlackBerry Champions! We`ll see you both at The Canadian Championships!

Remember: For every $50 raised, one child will enjoy the benefits of Right To Play`s Sport and Play programming for an entire year!

The highest fundraising team from each City Chase event will be entered into a random draw and invited as our guest to The 2010 Canadian Championships.

CHASER UPDATE #2 - OTTAWA

In only a few days...you will experience more in 6 HOURS... than your friends and family will the whole summer! On Saturday, the City of Ottawa will turn into a GIGANTIC CELEBRATION and urban playground featuring ChasePoint activities that will test teams with physical, intellectual, adventurous and humourous challenges. We have lots of surprises in store for you so BUCKLE UP and get ready for the RIDE!

For all you Chasers, there are 3 more days to prepare ...So think about...

* Doing some last minute stretching
* Brushing up your knowledge of local history and culture
* Studying the transit system
* Raising money for Right To Play
* Preparing Chase-Day costumes (remember your City Chase T-shirt must be worn)
* Working on your team dynamic
* Although preparation is a good thing, always remember.....Expect the Unexpected!


PLEASE NOTE - for those who have "Chased" in the past, but are not yet registered, this is a friendly reminder that with less than 3 days to go, ONLY 50 spaces remain.

Start/Finish:
The Mitsubishi City Chase Powered by BlackBerry will be hosted at the Tabaret Hall Lawn, 550 Cumberland Street on the OttawaU Campus.

IMPORTANT!

* You will require photo I.D. as well as the signed waiver for both participants. You only need to hand in one copy per team, as there is a space on the waiver for both team members to sign. Waiver - click here

* You will receive your team shirts, bib numbers, and transit passes. Any other non-race related items will be provided following the race!

* Please ensure that your team information is accurate on the event manifest - team name and both participant names.

Are you ready for some Adventure?

Enjoy more in 6 HOURS... than your friends and family will the whole summer! On July 17th, the City of Ottawa will turn into an urban playground featuring ChasePoint activities that will test teams with various physical, intellectual, adventurous and humourous challenges.

In 2009, over 20,000 participants "Chased" in The World`s Largest Adventure Series and once again, City Chase was the recipient of `Canada`s Best Sporting Event` award (2005 - 2009).

Course designers spent the winter focusing on one question ... How do we take `expect the unexpected` to a whole new level?
Well, we obviously can`t share the outcome with you just yet, but you won`t be disappointed!

In addition to the new twists and turns, we have compiled a great line up of prizes, including, the opportunity to represent Ottawa at the The City Chase Canadian Championships!

OC Transpo:
The OC Transpo has been moving the people of Ottawa since 1866 - that`s over 140 years of service! The OC Transpo provides comprehensive transit services to nearly one million people in Ottawa. The OC Transpo fleet has over 1,000 buses and three trains serving our nearly 370,000 daily riders.

The 2010 Canadian Championships:
The winning team from the Ottawa event will advance to The Canadian Championships to be held in October 2010 in a location TBA. The Canadian Championships will be an epic adventure that will take participants out of their comfort zone and truly test their resourcefulness in unfamiliar territory. Stay tuned... more information to come.


CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!!!
Volunteering for this interactive, fast-paced event can be very exciting. Assistance at any level would be appreciated. If you have any friends or family members who are Fun, Energetic, and Enthusiastic, and are interested in Volunteering for the City Chase event please have them complete the form found on the left sidebar.

Right To Play:
The Mitsubishi City Chase Powered by BlackBerry Bold is very pleased to once again be working with Right To Play as the official Charitable partner of the 2010 Series. Thanks in part to your tremendous efforts - especially Team "The Moops" Mike and Mike, who raised an incredible $2800 and earned `City Chase For Life`! - more than $165,000 was raised in 2009, bringing the two year total to nearly $300,000. These funds help to bring sport and play programs to improve health, develop life skills, and foster peace for children and communities in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world.

WAIVER AND RELEASE

Upon arrival, each team will be required to turn in their signed waiver and release. To expedite the day-of check-in process you can print the waiver and release now, sign where indicated, and remember to bring it on the day of the event.
WHAT YOU'LL GET:

Each team will receive a packet at registration containing the following items:
  1. Reserved team entry to the World's Largest Urban Adventure Series (regional event)
  2. Participant gift bag … filled with tons of great stuff
  3. Official City Chase t-shirts
  4. Race numbers (to be warn as the outer layer at all times from registration until the finish line)
  5. One day all access local transit pass
  6. ChasePoint Clue Sheet
  7. Access to great ChasePoint Challenges – minimum of 12 different ChasePoints per market
  8. The world's greatest Staff and Volunteers to brighten your day
  9. A memorable experience that will challenge you mentally, physically, and emotionally through crazy ChasePoint activities
  10. Access to the City Chase After-Party

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:

  • Identification: You don't want someone else walking away with your race packet.
  • Water: There are no water stations on the course because there's no set course.
  • Detailed Map: A map with a street finder would be handy.
  • Spare Cash: For lunch, snacks, stuff …
  • Paper and Pen: in case you need to write something down along the way.
  • Energy Bars: In case you get hungry on the course. You never know what kind of food we are going to provide, or not!
  • Cell Phone: This could come in handy for so many reasons … bring one if you can!
  • Transit Book/Schedule: good to know how to get from point A to point B in the fastest time

HOW TO PREPARE FOR RACE

  • Get a good night's sleep on Thursday and Friday.
  • Eat a good breakfast on Saturday morning.
  • Give yourself plenty of time to get to the event headquarters on Saturday morning.
  • Bring the recommended items with you to race.
  • Be open minded and have a sense of humour

FINISH & POST-RACE

  • The City Chase officially ends six hours after the start. Teams that have not returned to the finish within the time limit will be considered unranked. All teams are required to return to finish after six hours to enjoy some awards, cold beverages, and camaraderie with fellow participants
  • Details for the post race activities will be available in the competitor update section leading up the event date and will be provided by the City Chase host prior to the start of the event.
  • Re-fuel. Let's face it—you're gonna be hungry when the race is over.

RULES THAT WILL BE BROKEN FROM IGNORANCE

  • Travel - Teams must travel only by foot or approved local public transportation — city bus, ferry, train, subway, or streetcar. Any and all other methods of transportation, including, but not limited to, any form of private transportation, car, taxicab, skateboard, scooter, motorcycle, inline skates, hand glider and rickshaw are strictly prohibited. Any team using a prohibited form of transportation will be immediately disqualified
  • ChasePoint Cut-off Time– All ChasePoints will officially be closed at the 6 hour mark of each event unless otherwise stated. At this time, all teams must return immediately to the finish line and check in with a City Chase staff member.
  • Finish Line Cut-off Time – The finish line will officially close at the 6 hour mark of each event. Teams finishing after that time are still required to check in with a City Chase staff member. Please note that the finish line will be taken down 30 minutes after the official end of the event (6.5 hour mark)
  • Results - To be officially ranked, teams must locate and complete 10 ChasePoints before returning to the Finish Line. Teams will be ranked according to the order they cross the finish line. Teams finishing after the 6 hour mark will be ranked according to the number of ChasePoints completed.
  • Entry – Participants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the race to be able to participate.
  • Waiver - Each entrant will be required to sign a waiver and release at race registration
  • Race Shirts - Teams must wear the official City Chase event shirts visibly throughout the event from the time they check-in, until they cross the Finish Line. Teams who fail to do so will be disqualified.
  • Misconduct - Play with honor - No team or member of a team may act in a way that physically impedes the progress of another team. Violation of this rule will result in disqualification of the team.
  • Legalese: All decisions interpreting or applying to these rules are made by The City Chase. All decisions and interpretations are final. There is no right of appeal or review. These rules are subject to change without notice.
    • Any team or member of a team that violates state or local laws, including, but not limited to traffic laws, is subject to immediate disqualification. Any consequences, resulting from a team's actions are the responsibility of that team. Marshals are posted along the course to observe team behavior during the event.
    • In order to receive the national prize, a team must agree not to share, gift, or distribute, whether in cash or in kind, any portion of the prize to any person other than the members of the team and except as such transfers may occur by operation of law, e.g. spouse or other family member. This rule is further intended to disallow teams from making agreements to share, gift, or distribute the prize in the event the team is successful.
