CHASEPOINT #1 – Navigating 'The Rock!'
Location: Signal Hill - Downtown St. John's
Timing: Friday September 5, 2008 – 10:00am to 11:30am
Description: Signal Hill is known for being the reception point of the first transatlantic wireless signal sent by Guglielmo Marconi in 1901, as well as the site of harbour defences for St. John's from the 18th century to the Second World War, and most recently as the official start location of the 2008 City Chase Canadian Championships.
Prior to their departure from the Cabot Tower atop Signal Hill, teams were stripped of all personal belongings, and provided with a brand new BlackBerry Curve. The Signal Hill Tattoo fired a cannon to signify the start of the event and The Chase Is On!
Teams received an email describing tasks that needed to be accomplished in order to complete ChasePoint #1. Before checking in at Cychotic Bike shop for there next clue, teams had to
- Pick a pint of blueberries with one other team and check in at Sweet Relic
- Shuck and eat 6 oysters per team at Bianca's Restaurant
- Learn to Juggle and successfully toss and catch 10 times each at Wonderbolts Circus Academy, and
- Play the first verse of “Mussels in the Corner” on an accordion at O'Brian's Music Store.
