CHASEPOINT #12 – Needle In A Haystack
Location: Fishing Docks – Petty Harbour
Timing: Saturday September 6, 2008 – 4:30 to 6:00am
Description: After reaching 500 points during the bowling challenge teams received an email on their BlackBerry Curve instructing them to check in at the Co-Op building in the small fishing town of Petty Harbour. After navigating approximately 20km of back roads in their Mitsubishi Outlands, many teams had a tough time finding the ChasePoint location in the still dark, and largely asleep village.
When they were successful in finding it, teams were faced with a 300 gallon vat of fish guts. In the depths of the mess, teams needed to find and retrieve a picture of local fisherman. Armed only with the photo, and the instruction “find me”, teams scoured the sleeping village to find the driver of their fishing boat - Note: finding a person in a town with only a photograph, at 4:30 in the morning … Not easy!
Once successful, teams were instructed that their boats would depart at 6:00am sharp, and that any teams not on a boat would be disqualified. Although there were a couple of close calls, all teams managed to make the cut-off.
