CHASEPOINT #19 – World War II Tunnels
Location: World War II Tunnels – South side of St. John's Harbour
Timing: Saturday September 6, 2008 – 2:10pm – 3:10pm
Description: As indicated on the map retrieved from the lock box in Quidi Vidi, teams first stop was at the rarely accessed World War 2 tunnels. After docking their kayaks and making their way approximately 400 meters on foot, teams arrived at the entrance to the tunnels.
The tunnels were pitch black, wet and cold. Teams were provided only with one tiny flashlight to guide them. Their first task was to find approximately 30 puzzle pieces scattered throughout the first 300 feet of the tunnel. Once found, the puzzle pieces were brought to a candle lit platform approximately 400 feet into the tunnels where the team would work to assemble it. Once completed, and approved by the judge, teams were instructed to return to their kayaks.
