CHASEPOINT #3a – The Farms – Corn Maze
Location: Lester's Farm Market – St. John's
Timing: Friday September 5, 2008 – 12:15pm to 1:30pm
Description: Upon departure from Bowring Park participants were instructed to continue on bikes to two different farms in the West Country side before returning to Cychotic Bikes.
At Lester's Farm Market participants were sent into a 10 acre Corn Maze where they needed to find three items - A bail of hay, a pair of jeans, and a plaid shirt. With the items in tow, participants had to find their way out of the maze where they had to successfully build a scarecrow. Although it sounds simple enough, after a physically demanding morning, the maze proved to be anything but a picnic – Team Regina spent over an hour in the corn before finding their way out with the required items!
CHASEPOINT #3b – The Farms – Got Milk?
Location: Glenview Dairy Farm – St. John's
Timing: Friday September 5, 2008 – 1:00pm to 2:15pm
Description: Upon checking in with the staff at Glenview Farm teams were presented with two tasks. First, they needed to push a 1 ton bail of hay 100 feet. Then teams faced the task of having to milk a cow. The twist was that they first had to lead the cow approximately 150 meters through two barns and up into a milking station. Once their cow was set, teams needed to properly sanitize the animals teats before milking commenced. Struggling with the mostly uncooperative cow participants needed to fill 8 ounces of milk into a tin bucket before receiving their next clue.
