CHASEPOINT #6 – George Street Cook-Off
Location: George Street – Downtown St. John's
Timing: Friday September 5, 2008 – 3:30pm to 6:00pm
Description:
Upon completion of the Firefighter Combat Challenge teams drove their Mitsubishi Outlanders to the M&M Meats on Topsail Road. Upon arrival, team were given a box of pre-cooked hamburgers and another clue directing them down to George Street – Internationally renowned, George Street has the most pubs and bars per square foot of any street in North America.
Participants checked in at the centre stage of George Street where they where given a choice of 4 locations. At each location equipped with an unassembled barbeque and all the necessary tools and fixings to have a cook-off.
With only 4 barbeques to choose from, each station had two teams working together to build the barbeque and cook the burgers. It was up to the teams to decide, on a first come first serve basis, which of the stations they would select.
In order to complete this ChasePoint, teams first needed to successfully build the BBQ to the satisfaction of the fire inspector. Once approved, they had to utilize the burgers and Nestea Vitao provided to raise enough money to purchase a shopping list of items. To add to the complexity of the challenge, teams were not provided with pricing, or locations where the items could be found.
